Guanajuato, Gto., July 22, 2019.- Within the framework of the national meeting of the mining sector organized by the Department of Economy, the Engineering Division (DI) of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), received in donation the collection of minerals of the Eng. Salvador Aldana García and the Monument to the Miner was unveiled.

At San Matías Headquarters of the Engineering Division met, M. Francisco Quiroga Fernández, Vice President of Mining of the Department of Economy; Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of the Engineering Division on behalf of Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of the Guanajuato Campus, Eng. Fernando Campos Lara, Director of the Mining Services Company (CAHECOMI) and Lic. Mauricio Hernández Núñez, Delegate of the Federal Government.

It corresponded to the Ing. Juan Esteban García Dobarganes Bueno, Director of the Department of Engineering in Mines, Metallurgy and Geology, to welcome the meeting headquarters, in an event that for all was very significant, because they consolidated their identity and membership of the fraternity of the mining guild.

In his message, Dr. Mendoza Puga revealed that the intention of the monument to the miner, was precisely to strengthen the sense of belonging and identity of the university community of the DI, and to emphasize that the main strength of the Division are its graduates, its employers, their students and their teachers.

Special thanks were given to Ing. Campos Lara for his donation and selfless generosity for the payment of the monument, a quarry sculpture of a Guanajuatense miner, which highlights the human factor of the activity.

Likewise, the sculptor, Mr. Rubén García Juárez, who is part of a family of stonemasons of Guanajuato and is also the father of an engineering student, who is about to graduate from the degree.

In later ceremony, the donation of the personal collection of Ing. Aldana García, who was said to be very honored and pleased to be able to donate his minerals, fossils and other objects that he gathered for more than five decades of personal finds and exchanges with friends was made official, it was an effort of many years, he said excitedly, and found no better place for them than his school.

At this national meeting of the mining sector, a series of meetings were held throughout the day, concluding with the formal installation of the National Mining Technical Council, which was chaired by mining entrepreneurs, federal, state and University.
