recibira-guanajuato-a-mas-de-dos-mil-artistas-en-47-edicion-fic-ug-ugto-Guanajuato, Gto., July 4, 2019.- From October 9 to 27, the 47th edition of the Cervantino International Festival (FIC), the most important cultural event in Latin America and where the University of Guanajuato (UG) will have a presence with more than 70 academic and artistic activities.

During the ceremony in which the program of the event was unveiled, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino said that the "Cervantino" is a great project in which institutions and wills converge and called to turn his gaze to the transformative capacity of art, as well as the power it has to build bridges of understanding.

He recalled that the "Cervantino" has its origins in the representation of the Entremeses performed by the University Theatre and argued that although different contexts are lived in each edition, the university essence prevails.

As is tradition, the University of Guanajuato will be one of the venues of the Festival, so it will open the doors of 25 spaces that will be the scene of various cultural manifestations. In addition, it will participate with 77 academic and artistic projections and events.

It highlights the presentation of groups such as the Teatro Universitario and Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato, which will share the stage with the Argentine singer-songwriter Fito Páez.

On her occasion the Director General of the FIC, Mariana Aymerich Ordoñez said that this event is "the great cultural festival of Mexico and an iconic festival for Latin America" and detailed that during the 19 days of the festival you will be able to enjoy the talent of more than 2,000 artists from 34 countries.

She also noted that special emphasis had been placed on an inclusive event and stressed the importance of this year's thematic axis: migrations.

For his part, the Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Lic. Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo referred to the historical and cultural richness of the state and emphasized that it is necessary to promote the development of the country through art and education.

In the same vein, the Secretary of Culture, Lic. Alejandra Frausto Guerrero considered that those who grow up in contact with art will be trained as a better citizen, so he reiterated his confidence in the ability of art to build a fairer society.

He also disclosed that on this occasion, for the first time, the invited country will be a recipient of part of the FIC's programming, as a way of giving back its generous willingness to share the best of its artistic expressions with Mexico.

The Governor of the State of Guerrero, guest of honor in this edition of the FIC, congratulated those who have participated in the festival and spoke of the cultural richness of their entity, who will seek to capture in the programming they have prepared to bring to Guanajuato.

On behalf of the invited country, Minister Counsellor of the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, Chantal Chastenay, spoke, who expressed her gratitude for this distinction and mentioned some of the artists who will showcase her country's artistic wealth.

It was the responsibility of the Municipal President of Guanajuato, Lic. Alejandro Navarro Saldaña, to offer a message of welcome to the event that brought together representatives of the public authorities and different government units, to the artistic guild, academic and public.
