cineSalamanca, Gto. July 29, 2019.- The short films "Faroles" and "Toci" made by students of Digital Arts of the University of Guanajuato (UG) obtained second and third place respectively in the contest of "Identity and Membership" organized by the International Film Festival of Guanajuato (GIFF).

The audiovisual project "Faroles" directed by the student of the Bachelor of Digital Arts, Juan Pablo Hernández Valdez and "Toci" by Andrea Alvarado Sánchez, Enya Flores Gutiérrez, Juan Mendoza, Alejandra Anaya, Armando Romero, from the same program of studies of the Irapuato–Salamanca Campus, and Mario Luis Castro of Business Management, were recognized for their ability to tell stories with facts, places and characters of Guanajuato.

"Faroles" describes that in the city of Salamanca, in the face of the wave of violence and insecurity, society is still looking for quiet and familiar places. Such is the case of the various taquerias that exist in the city, causing these spaces, together with diners and taqueros, to become lanterns to make you feel safe and shelter at night.

The making team of this short is Juan Pablo Hernández Valdéz, Brenda Alicia Méndez Otega, Georgina Araceli Castañeda Villegas, Diana Castillo Díaz de León, Lizeth Stefanía Ruíz Aguilar, Marcos Cordero Rodríguez, Cristian Camilo Fonseca Rodríguez, Jorge Uriel Díaz Hernández, Javier Octavio Castillo Ruíz and David Azhael Ruíz Aguilar.

The short film "Toci" focuses on temazcal as a process of introspection and is also an important part of the traditional medicine of the peoples of central Mexico. The team of Kenya Lobato, Andrea Alvarado Sánchez, Brenda Gómez Maldonado, Alexis Solórzano and Pedro Luis Hernández, addresses as main themes daily life highlighting monotony, insecurity and introspection, by proposing as a means of escape to this reality a pre-Hispanic method, such as the temazcal bath.

This work was carried out over 6 months, with recordings in Salamanca, Valle de Santiago, Irapuato, León and Guanajuato capital.

The recognition of digital arts students reflects, in addition to the technical capacity of the filmmakers, the analysis of the historical and social context that this generation of young creators who channel their concerns through projects Film.
