Guanajuato, Gto., July 30, 2019.- The University of Guanajuato is an educational institution with high social commitment, an example is the solid relationship that has been forged over the years with the General Hospital of León.

Students from the health area of the Campus León of the University of Guanajuato have performed their social service and professional practices with support for research in Health Sciences, support for services in cytology laboratory, education campaigns and health promotion, just to mention some of its activities.

It is important to mention the outstanding work of the health science students who perform their social service in the Hospital, in the last academic period more than 400 students of the Bachelor of Physician Surgeon were working at the Outpatient Center for prevention and care in AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections and Comprehensive Hospital Care Services (CAPACITS) that provides services for the prevention and specialized care of patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted infections, on an outpatient basis.

Another of its activities has been the promotion of sex education, the prevention and care of sexually transmitted infections, academic and cultural activities to raise awareness and disseminate human rights, to train and motivate its members in actions impact on public health.

In this sense on August 1st the University of Guanajuato will formalize a strategic alliance with the Ministry of Health of Guanajuato, the two bodies will work in the new facilities of the General Hospital of León located in the headquarters of San Carlos. This hospital will have a care capacity for more than 2 million Guanajuatense.

The University of Guanajuato maintains a close link with the Ministry of Health in the training of human resources. In this area, the Educational Institution offers in León the programs of Physical Activity Science and Health; Nursing and Obstetrics; Physician Surgeon; Nutrition; Psychology; physical therapy and rehabilitation. Students from these disciplines will actively participate in the new facilities of the General Hospital of León.

According to information issued by the Ministry of Health of the State Government, the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Dr. Daniel Díaz Martínez reported that the HGL has more than 40 thousand square meters of construction and 50 offices. In addition, there will be 250 censable beds, 271 non-censable beds, 15 operating rooms, 7 shock rooms, 600 free parking spaces - in the old facilities there was no such service -, a family hostel and a worthy auditorium.

It will offer 39 specialties including: internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastrology, cardiology, pneumology, hematology, nephrology, rheumatology, pediatric cardiology, infants, oncopediatrics, among others.

The building has 4 areas: House of Machines and External Consultation: government, teaching, clinical archive, medical and statistical informatics, auditorium with capacity for 190 people and 10 places for people with disabilities.
