Guanajuato, Gto., August 1, 2019.- The University of Guanajuato made a strategic alliance with the General Hospital of León for the training of human resources, loan of social and professional service by its students of Health Sciences, in addition to the execution of various research projects.

This is the result of the opening of the new facilities of the General Hospital of León that will give attention to more than 2 million Guanajuatenses since it has three times more capacity than the previous one with more than 500 beds, robotic pharmacy and can also live surgery to improve the learning of medical students, to mention some of the services.

During the opening event, the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino commented that "in the face of the challenges we have, strategic collaboration is a path for development," said the partnership with the House Studies involves generating an exchange of health services, developing joint research projects, training high-level human resources, "in this hospital our student community will be able to carry out its professional practices, therefore it will be puts the talent of the University of Guanajuato at the service of this great project."

The President of the UG emphasized that the participation of the University will be from its four Campuses and the High School College, he also recalled that the educational offer in the area of health is 7 bachelor's degrees and 43 postgraduates, but there are 16 degrees that impact in the field of health. There are 143 professors developing research in this area and 100 interdisciplinary projects that can already be applied.

Among the areas of opportunity highlighted the possibility of developing medical tourism projects, "this hospital is an element of strategic development for the state and the country". He reiterated his commitment to open more spaces for students in the area of health and said that the University of Guanajuato will continue to grow in tuition, with quality and equity.

The Governor of the State, Mr. Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo said that this is a historic day and thanked the architect of this project, former Governor Mr. Miguel Márquez Márquez for this initiative. The hospital cost 1.6 billion pesos, an investment that made it possible to have an unprecedented infrastructure, because it is about taking care of the health and life of the population with highly trained staff and the best equipment.

The Secretary of Health of the State of Guanajuato, Dr. Daniel Alberto Díaz noted that this hospital seeks to serve at the regional level and reiterated the willingness to work on behalf of Mexicans. "This project goes beyond the goals of a three-year or six-year period; it has to do with the objective of creating a level playing field and raising the quality of services to the population," he said.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the Secretary of the General Health Council, Dr. José Ignacio Santos Preciado, celebrated this project and said that the hospital will meet the needs of the population with the best quality. He thanked those who made this project possible.

Likewise, the student of the University of Guanajuato, Astrid Dinorah Hernández Briseño expressed her excitement for this strategic and scientific alliance for the University of Guanajuato. He said this is a learning opportunity and called for teamwork with ethics and love of the profession. He appreciated the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the country and one of the most avant-garde hospitals.

The event was attended by sole-person authorities, managers and representatives of the four Campuses and the College of Middle Higher, authorities of the three levels of government and special guests.
