Guanajuato, Gto., August 15, 2019.- Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), took the protest of the new Debates Team (EDUG) of the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG) for 2019-2020 and attended the report of Team 2018-2019 activities.

The outgoing team was extended the broadest congratulations on the work done, the triumphs achieved and for being an example for the entire university community; while the new team wanted them to find a promising path that will lead them to take on their leading role and consolidate their many talents.

The students who have integrated EDUG, he said, are a huge and deep pride for the University of Guanajuato, because, although he was born in the Division of Law, Politics and Government, they have consolidated and expanded their horizons to other Divisions of the Campus Guanajuato.

Dr. Rendón argued that who knows how to debate has a high sense of what the word is worth and observed that the various generations have made an indenting for their results, for which he expressed his appreciation and congratulations on the great work of each member of the team, which is not the work of chance or money, but of the conviction, effort and excellence of each.

To students, she told that this great multidisciplinary orientation team should not lose its critical spirit within the framework of tolerance and respect, for which they must develop analytical awareness, always compromising compliance ethics and principles that should distinguish every university student.

We welcome the exercise in this House of Studies of the debate and that the team was able to place itself in the top places at the state, national and international level, said the Rector of the Guanajuato Campus, who committed all the support of the authorities for those of this important organized group.

Finally, she wished them the greatest success not only in the competitions, but so that they remain the great people who are all and invited them to commit the most of their efforts, zeal and knowledge, to face the challenges that are coming.

Likewise, Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, Director of the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG), gave a recognition to the team that delivered such good accounts and that left a high mark for the next. He congratulated them on their enormous work, high-altitude debate and commitment.

In addition to an informative video of the period that ended, the coordinators of the outgoing team, Luis Roberto González Santos del Toro, Eduardo Piedra and Laura Márquez Villanueva offered a message of the work and results they gave to the UG, institution of the who always had unconditional support.

Among their many achievements, they cited that they are national runners-up of the National University Congress of Debate that was held in Sinaloa; they were represented at the World University Championships based in Chile; third-time representation in the Legal and Social Commission for Women at the UN as delegates to an NGO and from Mexico.

They also won the championship of the First New York-based International Offshore System Tournament; champions and runners-up rookies in the Lions Debate Cup; First Tournament runners-up

Exclusive for women; runners-up in national championship of speech debates just as they have organized multiple debates.

Later, Martha Daniela Hernández Salgado, a student of the Law Degree seventh semester and Coordinator of EDUG in the period 2019-2020, together with Michelle Alejandra Vergara and José Cruces, recognized the work of their predecessors and committed to follow and bring new accolades for their Alma Mater.

Among other challenges, they advanced the creation of the first tournament for diversity, the creation of a transparency regulation to account, the formation of opinion leaders through their radio and television programs and continue with the presence in media and, of course, continue the high performance of EDUG.

At the ceremony, was also present the Student Impulse Coordinator, Cecilia Lucía González Martínez, on behalf of the M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development at UG.
