Irapuato, Gto. August 12, 2019.- The student of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Carlos Montenegro Hernández was awarded the Municipal Youth Award 2019 in category A, Social Commitment, awarded by the Municipal Institute of Youth of Irapuato (IMJUVI).

The student, who said he was pleased to demonstrate the skills of the UG students, studies the eighth semester of the Bachelor of Nursing and Obstetrics in the Division of Life Sciences, has been distinguished by an active participation in projects and programs, including as manager of the "Environmental Promoters" project for two years, he was An Environmental Monitor of the "School Republic Project" with the UG and the State Institute of Ecology by promoting the training of leaders who have the management and responsibility to your environment.

He took part in the call "Hands for the World 2018" of EDUCAFIN, collaborating in the international project of the Forest of Villarbo in As Pontes de García Rodríguez, Galicia, Spain. He also volunteered at an equestrian therapy center, aimed at children with motor and neurobiological disorders.

A member of the organized group "Colmena Estudiantil UG", he is a driver of the project "Pasitos de colores" dedicated to the creation of firm floors with plastic waste in order to dignify the homes and reduce the spread of vectors in low-resource abodes of the rural environment.

He was representative of the state of Guanajuato at the V Latin American Regional Summit on Human Rights 2019, held at the Congress of Tlaxcala. He is a member of the Young Human Rights International in the Guanajuato Delegation; He mentored during the first edition BeeHack 2019, a Hackatón organized by Kaizen Future Lb to seek innovative solutions to environmental issues.

In addition to his social commitment he has excelled academically, as he obtained the first place in the presentation of research protocols "Degree of Adherence to Pharmacological Treatment in Patients with Schizophrenia in Ambulatory Care" at the second Congress International Research in Health Sciences. In 2018 he was nominated for the UBSA Award for social commitment and in this year, he was nominated for the Kybernus Award for Citizen Value.

Among almost 60 participants, three students from the Irapuato–Salamanca Campus were also finalists in different categories: César Osvaldo Castañeda Villanueva, Carlos Daniel Espadas Chacón and Jonathan Duarte Jasso.
