León, Gto., August 29, 2019.- With a comprehensive research work of five years, Dr. Alejandro Mercado Villalobos, professor-researcher in the Department of Cultural Studies of the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León, finished the edition of his fifth book which is named after "Santos Degollado. Political biography".

The work, the result of his doctoral thesis in History, addresses the public and political life of Santos Degollado, who was born in Guanajuato on October 31, 1811, a man very close to Benito Juárez, participated with him promoting the Liberal Reform in Mexico at the stage of the construction of the Mexican State.

In this regard Dr. Mercado Villalobos commented that "it has been very little studied and what I have tried is to revisit or know again the nineteenth century from the life of this character, it is extremely interesting the way in which he built his life and the way in which he participated or in the public life of Mexico."

He shared that every book he has written is special, as they are all years of effort, "to visit files, to be reviewing multiple repositories in order to discover and present knowledge".

He added that this book is special because the character is Guanajuatense, "I'm offering the story of a national character, for his ideas, for his trajectory," he said.

He commented that this work has the academic auspices of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) and the UG, as well as the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt); the book is already in the digital repository and university library of the UG, as well as in the UdeG bookstore on the Lagos Campus of Moreno.

Among the upcoming editorial presentations is scheduled one at the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo at a military history conference, as well as at the Lagos de Moreno Campus of the UdeG and at the Third Student Colloquium of Art and Culture project of the and students of the cultural and art program of the León Campus of the UG where the researcher teaches subjects.

Dr. Mercado Villalobos is a chronicler of the municipality of Santa Ana Maya, Michoacán since 2008 of an honorary nature and in 2016 he won the National Research Award of the Forum Cultural Guanajuato with the research work: "Music and party in Guanajuato. Notes on everyday life in two cities of the Porphyry Bajío", a book that was published in 2017.
