Ciudad de México, September 9, 2019.- In the framework of the fourth edition of the Summit of Rectors Mexico-Japan, the President of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino participated in the opening panel, which had as the thematic axis "Society 5.0".

At the event that has as its headquarters the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Dr. Guerrero referred to the Ecosystem of Liaison, Innovation, Development and Application of Knowledge (VIDA UG) and its contributions to move towards society 5.0.

He referred to the Specialized Unit on Internet of the Future for the State of Guanajuato (HIVE FI), the IOTEN Laboratory of the Internet of Things applied to the Energy Sector, The Digital Agenda, the Advanced State Network of Telecommunication for Research and Divulgation of Science and Technology of Guanajuato, the participation of UG in the University Hospital, which is known for using avant-garde technology and artificial intelligence; as well as the liaison and the establishment of alliances among the educational, government and enterprise sectors.

In addition, he emphasized during his exhibition the need to distinguish between ends and means, so he appealed to the importance of betting on a development that has as its axis the person and, therefore, a humanist vision.

Together with Dr. Guerrero also participated his counterparts of the Universidad Anáhuac, Dr. Cipriano Sánchez; Sapporo City University President, Hideyuki Nakashima; Kanagawa University Vice-President, Akihiro Matob and Sadakazu Ejiri of Asahi University.

On this occasion, the Summit of Rectors takes place on September 9 and 10 and is focused on building a "5.0 Society" in both countries, as well as strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Mexico and Japan.

The event brings together representatives from 50 Mexican and Japanese Higher Education Institutions, who discuss creative policies to ensure capacity building and best practices for a more prosperous future.
