According to the Festival's own Facebook page, the decision was made after "the splendid collaboration with Master Roberto Beltran-Zavala and the success achieved" at the ninth edition Festival Internazionale Palermo Classica Summer 2019, where he led the Palermo Classica Symphony Orchestra.

"It is reported that Palermo Classic has decided to entrust the master as principal conductor of the X edition of the International Festival Palermo Classic, in order to value the orchestral team and make a greater contribution to the artistic level of the whole festival", is read in the official announcement.
