Guanajuato, Gto., September 10, 2019.- From 10 to 12 September, the Forum and Expo of International Academic Collaboration is held at the University of Guanajuato (UG), an event that brings together representatives of educational institutions and cooperation agencies that seek to promote networks of work and generate opportunities to make stays in different countries around the world.

At the inauguration, the Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration (DRICA), Dr. Elías Ledesma Orozco, who attended on behalf of the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that internationalization implies appreciation for one's own culture, tolerance and respect for other peoples and visions of the world.

In addition, he stressed that the institutional objective is not only to establish competitive professionals, but to ensure a humanist education, the product of a comprehensive training based on diversity and generated by internationalization.

"For us this is a space of opportunity, encounter, thanks, but above all to strengthen bonds of collaboration that allow our institutions to achieve the goal of forming citizens capable of finding solutions to the great challenges global global goals," he said.

Representing the Rector of the Guanajuato Campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, the Academic Secretary of the Campus, Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla, welcomed this space that allows to create work networks and exchange opportunities.

Former University of West Virginia contributor George M. Lies offered a message on behalf of participating delegates, expressing his appreciation to the University of Guanajuato and referring to the importance of collaboration between universities to build a better future.

On the first day of activities, the conference "The evolution of internationalization in higher education institutions in Mexico" was held by Guillermo Morones Díaz, General Coordinator of Liaison at Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana.

The conference brought together national and foreign students, as well as authorities from various universities around the world to hear about the challenges facing higher education institutions in Mexico for academic internationalization.

Morones Díaz spoke about the importance of identifying global needs in the educational field in order to generate international academic cooperation. In addition, he emphasized that it is necessary to make an evaluation of the academic programs and professionalization of academics, students and administrative staff who collaborate in the area of mobility of universities.

Activities in the Magnus Spaces will continue this Tuesday, September 11. The program highlights the commemoration of the 30 years of academic collaboration with the University of Soka, as well as the keynote lecture of its president, Dr. Yohihisa Baba. While on day 12 activities will extend to the UG's four college campuses.
