medico-residente-disea-aplicacion-movil-en-beneficio-pacientes-con-lesion-renal-aguda

León, Gto., September 20, 2019.- José Abraham Xool Méndez, created an application for operating systems called Pre Est Xool that will allow to quickly and accurately calculate the correct doses to start continuous renal replacement therapy in patients who deserve it.

The second-year resident physician of the specialty in medicine of the critically ill in the Medical Unit of High Specialty (UMAE) No.1 Bajío of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) generated this application with academic validity of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

Dr. Xool's idea arises in support of the research protocol "Standardized Prescription of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy in patients with acute kidney injury as a measure to increase the life of the extracorporeal circuit in the Intensive Care Unit at UMAE #1 Bajío in León, Guanajuato".

The main purpose of this protocol is to determine whether the standardization of the prescribing process of continuous renal replacement therapy contributes to increasing the lifespan of the extracorporeal circuit -hemofilters- in a population with acute kidney injury and renal replacement therapy requirement.

Dr. Xool Méndez commented in interview that 8 out of 10 patients have benefited during this process, supplemented by reporting that the three main benefits of this application are that "any health personnel will be able to prescribe clearly and with the help of the application any continuous renal replacement therapy through the extracorporeal circuits; the second is that the extracorporeal circuits will increase the half-life to 72 hours and the third is that by increasing the half-life to 72 hours, it will also help us decrease the extracorporeal circuits that we will use in each patient to reduce costs."

It is noteworthy that this application, through the instances of IMSS, is in the process of acquiring its patent through the National Copyright Institute (INDAUTOR) for the benefit of many patients at national and international level.

Dr. Bertha Isabel Arévalo Rivas, Coordinator of Medical Specialties of the León Campus of the UG, indicated in interview that the Specialty in Critical Medicine is an indirect entry program, so it is necessary to be a specialist in anesthesiology, emergency medicine or having completed at least two years of the specialty in Internal Medicine.

The specialty has the Consolidated Level in the National Quality Graduate Census (PNPC), its head professor is Dr. Eliseo Luis López and there are currently 15 resident doctors in this specialty.
