León, Gto., September 28, 2019.- Four teams of high school students (ENMS) from the University of Guanajuato (UG) obtained their pass to the national stage of the 2019 WER Robotics Tournament, after their participation in the regional stage that took place in the city of León.

The WER is a unique educational robotics tournament in the world; its purpose is to stimulate intellectual development, competitiveness and a current vision of globalization in elementary, secondary and high school students. The challenges, goals and dynamics of the WER tournament drive the cognitive and socio-emotional development of participating students.

On this occasion teams from the high schools of León, Salamanca, Pénjamo, Irapuato, Centro Histórico León and Salamanca participated.

Three teams from Salamanca obtained their pass with the projects: Los Robocuates, Los J's, and MIDORI, while ENMS students from the León Centro Histórico did so with the project called Torvalds Stark.

These teams will participate in the national tournament, in which the 15 teams that will travel to the World Educational Robotics Tournament in Shanghai, China, will be selected to represent Mexico where it is estimated there will be about 10 thousand participants.

WER is an inclusive tournament involving schools, academies, clubs and teams of diverse associations in both the private and public sectors regardless of the size of the institution or the socio-economic level.

The state meeting of Guanajuato took place in the facilities of the University of La Salle Bajío and involved 200 teams from the 45 municipalities of Guanajuato composed of students from different public and private educational institutions such as the SABES, Cecyte, Conalep, and UG high schools.

The national tournament will be held in December, venue and date to be confirmed, so these teams want to play a good role and represent the UG in an international joust, so during these months they will be training and tuning details to the robot with which they compete.
