León, Gto., October 8, 2019.- In order to provide attention to specific social issues such as: diabetes, medicines and studies for rare diseases called 'orphans' and the supply of domestically manufactured dental products at affordable prices, the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León and the National School of Higher Studies Unit León (ENES) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), presented the creation of the project "Laboratory of Development of Biomaterials and Biotechnological Services".

This laboratory is created from the conjunction of the strengths of the Academic Body of Biomaterials of the Science and Engineering Division of the León Campus and several researchers of the ENES León.

During the meeting, the basis for the elaboration of an agreement creating the above-mentioned laboratory, as well as the management of academic spaces and resources of both institutions, was laid.

This project together seeks to strengthen the training of both undergraduate and graduate students of the UG and ENES León so that, through this laboratory, they can create research projects of social problems in areas of Health Sciences and Sciences and Engineering.

During the presentation, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of the León Campus; Dr. Laura Susana Acosta Torres, Director of ENES-León, with her collaborators Dr. Ma. Concepción Arenas, General Secretary and Dr. René Contreras, Scientific Transfer Coordinator.

Dr. David Yves Ghislain Delepine, Director of the Sciences and Engineering Division of the León Campus, as well as Dr. Birzabith Mendoza Novelo, Director of the Department of Chemical, Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, was present; Dr. José Jorge Delgado García, Research and Graduate Support Coordinator of the León Campus.

They also joined this presentation, as part of the Science and Engineering Division, Dr. Laura Castellano Torres, Coordinator of the master's degree in Applied Sciences; Dr. Irais Quintero Ortega who serves as coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Sustainable Chemical Engineering and Dr. Algeria Rosillo, responsible for the academic body of Biomaterials.
