Guanajuato, Gto., October 10, 2019.- As each edition of the Cervantino International Festival (FIC), the University of Guanajuato (UG) is a fundamental pillar of its programming, for this 47th edition, the Maximum House of Studies of the state will participate with 77 events that include artistic presentations, academic activities and film screenings.

This was reported at a press conference in which the Director of Cultural Extension, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez mentioned that part of the UG's programming sticks to the thematic axis of this edition, "Migrations", in this regard called for reflection because on many occasions human migrations are forced and occur because of political and ideological conflicts.

The Director of the University Theatre, from whose tradition the festival was born, Mtro. Hugo Gamba Briones indicated that they will have 8 functions of the plays: "Retabillo Jovial", "Two men in the mine" and "Entremeses Cervantinos". He also emphasized that it is the first time that the performances of the " Entremeses Cervantinos", which take place in The Plaza San Roque, will have sound.

The Manager of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG), M. Adalberto Tovar mentioned that they will have two special performances during the FIC, the first will be on Sunday, October 13 at the Teatro Juárez in which, under the baton of his titular director, Roberto Beltrán Zavala, will perform the program "Fantastic Music: 150 years of Berlioz's death." This tribute to the French composer includes the interpretation of his amazing Fantastic Symphony, released in 1830.

One of the most anticipated events is the presentation of the OSUG with Fito Páez, a prominent exponent of the Argentine rock of the last 30 years, in the Alhóndiga de Granaditas on Sunday, October 19.

On this occasion, the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato (BAFUG) will have a show called "Las Fiestas en México" in which it will show the cultural heritage of the country and reflect the crossbreeding that has formed our identity, as explained by its Director, M. Roberto Martínez Rocha who also said that the public will be able to enjoy the ballet on October 21st in the Alhóndiga de Granaditas.

For her part, the Coordinator of the Movie Club of the University of Guanajuato, Lic. Montserrat Alejandri stated that there will be 7 film cycles, more than 50 screenings and 8 academic activities.

One of the cycles is called "Migraciones: A look from Mexican cinema" in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE), in addition to having inclusive film functions with the projections of "Mexican Cinema to Imagine", as well as films from Canada and Guerrero, FIC's guests of honor.

In conclusion, the Art Spaces Coordinator, M. David García Aguirre mentioned that the galleries of the University of Guanajuato will host 5 exhibitions during the FIC: "Anatomy of a Tear" in the gallery El Atrio; "Death speech and shadow" in the multipurpose gallery; "Eranhini" in the gallery Jesus Gallardo; "The Marshal Brothers" in the corridor Tomás Chávez Morado; and "What Remains" in the Hermenegildo Bustos gallery.
