Guanajuato, Gto., October 11, 2019.- Through the Institute of Financing and Information for Education, the state government awarded scholarships to 246 students at the University of Guanajuato (UG), as part of the Startup Mobility program, which aims to promote interculturality through short stays.

In this way, the flag ceremony and congratulatory letters were held to students who will travel to Canada and the United States, where they will participate in academic and cultural activities for a week.

At the event, UG President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino stated that this scholarship is a recognition of student merit and emphasized that the university offers multiple development opportunities. To this end, in recent years it has strived to strengthen links with other institutions, which will enable them to undertake more far-reaching projects.

Thus, he celebrated this initiative of the state government that through the scholarships of Educafin allows young people to live international experiences and contributes to promote interculturality.

Previously, the Director of Student Development, C.P. Cecilia Lucía González Martínez, said that the 246 recipients of the scholarships are characterized by their leadership and have distinguished themselves by their talent in different fields: academic, cultural, sports, among others.

Therefore, I am confident that the selected young people will be excellent representatives of the University of Guanajuato and thanked the state government for the support provided.

At the ceremony the letters of congratulations and pennant were given to the beneficiaries, who were represented by Daniel Alejandro Ledesma Pérez, student of Biomedical Engineering, who will travel to California, and by Perla Aranza Sandoval Sánchez, from the Bachelor of Public Administration, who will travel to Canada.

On behalf of the student community Aranza Sandoval gave a message, who stated that this opportunity compromises them as university students and emphasized the responsibility they have in being part of an institution that influences the construction of better social scenarios.

The event was attended by beneficiaries of the Startup Mobility programme and their families; as well as authorities of the University of Guanajuato.
