Guanajuato, Gto., October 17, 2019.- Representatives of the University of Guanajuato (UG) signed a student exchange agreement with the University of Regina (UofR), a public institution located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

In this event, the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino celebrated the coincidence that the firm is given with Canada, guest country of honor of the International Cervantino Festival (FIC).

He indicated that for the University of Guanajuato it is a distinction to sign an agreement with this prestigious university. "Canada is characterized by its openness and wide sensitivity to interculturality. For the UG it represents a collaboration agreement to encourage academic, educational and scientific exchange," he said.

In addition, he asserted that any partnership agreement was a starting point and hoped that the actions between the two institutions would exceed the terms set out therein.

The President of the UG also stressed that "it is essential to encourage the approach to different environments and different cultures because that makes us better human beings and thus contribute to the construction of a better world".

The Vice President for Management at the University of Regina, MSC. Dave Button signed the agreement and mentioned that it is an honor to be part of "this additional step for collaboration between the two countries" and assured that cooperation in student mobility will be fruitful.

It should be noted that the Canadian University has two campuses, Regina and Saskatoon located in Wascana Center, one of the largest urban parks in North America.

It has 15 thousand,568 students enrolled in 120 undergraduate and 78 postgraduate programs. The Canadian University is organized into 10 faculties, 25 academic departments and schools, 18 research centers and institutes, and three federated universities.

The Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, Dr. Elías Rigoberto Ledesma, endorsed the commitment to promote internationalization and interculturality between the two institutions.

Also present in the signing of the convention were the Academic Secretary of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz; the Consul General of the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, Mr. Steven Champman; and the Director of the Office of the University of Regina in Mexico, Lic. Montserrat Muñoz-David.
