Guanajuato, Gto., October 27, 2019.- With the presentation of 77 artistic activities and the contribution of 25 of the 50 venues where the 46th edition of the International Cervantino Festival (FIC) was held, the University of Guanajuato reaffirms the importance of its participation in one of the events world's most prestigious cultural services.

At the press conference at which the results of this edition were unveiled, the Director of Cultural Extension of the University of Guanajuato (UG), M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez first highlighted that this year, for the first time, the official image of the Cervantino Festival arose from a call among the student community, in which the winner was Frida Villarreal Esquivel, student of the bachelor's degree in Graphic Design.

This year, half of the FIC events were held in university spaces, and the House of Studies contributed 77 activities –artistic presentations, screenings and academic events— in addition, Chávez Rodríguez reported that three artistic groups with 11 their own roles participated and the Movie Club offered film cycles with 51 screenings and 8 academic activities in four headquarters.

In addition, the UG art spaces hosted five exhibitions and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) received the medal Eugenio Trueba Olivares, which is awarded within the framework of the Festival.

It also disclosed that the total number of assistants in university spaces was approximately 35,000 people during the three weeks of the FIC.

During the press conference, FIC's General Director, Lic. Mariana Aymerich thanked the support of the state, municipal, UG and special guests, Canada and Guerrero, while stating that the "party of the spirit" will maintain its principles and will continue to promote inclusion and diversity.

She anticipated that the 48th edition of the FIC would take place from October 14 to November 1, 2020 and noted that in coming dates it will be known who the country and guest state of the next edition of the Festival will be.

On behalf of the Governor of the State, Lic. Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo, the General Coordinator of the State's Social Communication, Lic. Alan Sahir Márquez Becerra highlighted the capacity for organization and coordination between the different levels of government, which was reflected in the success of the festival.

While the Director of the State Institute of Culture (IEC), Lic. Adriana Camarena de Obeso, emphasized the presence of 541 Guanajuatense artists in the FIC program, and recognized the more than 500 people who care for the public, the artists, and citizens.

During the press conference, the Marketing Director of the Department of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, M. Jorge Luis Cabrejos Samamé reported that 414 thousand people attended during these three weeks, and an estimated economic spill of 615 million pesos, while the Municipal President of Guanajuato, Lic. Alejandro Navarro Saldaña, highlighted that there was a white balance, the festival took place in an atmosphere of tranquility and efforts were redoubled to offer a better image of the city to tourists.
