Guanajuato, Gto., October 25, 2019.- Authorities and professors at the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), received prestigious badges from the Russian Federation, as well as a batch of specialized books and magazines for the teaching of the Russian language.

Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of the Guanajuato Campus, explained that the delivery of badges was given as a recognition for the dissemination of Russian language, history and culture in Mexico, and specifically in the teaching field of Russian to M. Francisco Javier Martínez and Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, for creating the teaching conditions.

He argued that the friendship and affection between the Russian and Mexican people transposes borders, and in our country, we admire their culture, their art, and Russia is always present in concert halls, in reading their great writers. According to the Russian embassy, he said, more Mexican products enter the Russian market every year and vice versa, such as meat, tequila and beer, and even tortillas.

He also referred to the academic links with such an endearing country, because thanks to the efforts of the Guanajuato Campus, an agreement was signed with the University of Moscow, which has brought a deep academic relationship, in such a way that he thanked, on behalf of the Campus, academic badges and books generously donated by the Embassy of the Russian Federation and by writers' organizations in that country.

During the ceremony, Dr. Elías Rigoberto Ledesma Orozco, Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, commented that the University of Guanajuato has about 400 agreements through which it works with national and foreign universities.

But in the case of Russia, there is only one agreement, however, the decision and will of the M. Francisco Javier Martínez managed to hand over these badges, he said.

It should be noted that in addition to Dr. Rendón Huerta; Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH), and M. Francisco Javier Martínez Bravo, Internationalization Coordinator at DCSH, received badges.

In his time, Francisco Javier Martínez Bravo, explained how these badges were achieved for the Guanajuato Campus of the UG. He recalled that the Russian language has been taught in this university for 22 years, with some interruptions, and currently has a collaboration agreement with Moscow State University.

He said that together with Dr. César Federico Macías and Dr. José Luis Lara Valdés, they were part of the Academic Corps of Historical Studies, through which he was appointed to attend from January 28 to 31 of this year, to the IV International Conference for the Balance of the World, in Havana, Cuba; where he met a group of foreigners who tried to register for the conference and struggled to make themselves understood in Russian, a language apparently no one spoke.

It was that in this way he became an interpreter of them, who were notable people in his country and later in Mexico, he knew that in Moscow they made preparations to send him as a teacher, books to support the teaching-learning of the Russian language and badges for the fact do that job.

Martínez Bravo emphasized that one of the characteristics of the Russian soul is his generosity, and this material act shows that quality, for those colleagues he met in Havana consider that his literature and culture could contribute to building a culture of peace, indispensable for a dignified life in these times.

At the ceremony, the Viceroyal String Quartet delighted with Russian pieces, and also attended Dr. Graciela Velázquez Delgado, Director of the History Department, Department Directors, Russian professors collaborating on Campus Guanajuato, academic and administrative staff.
