Tierra Blanca, Gto., October 30, 2019.- In order to generate and exchange ideas between academics and the student community for the preservation of the natural heritage of the northeastern region of the state, as well as the Biosphere Reserve, the inauguration of the 6th Encounter of Sustainability and Culture of the Sierra Gorda and was also celebrated on the 6th Contest "Ideas in action", organized by the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

On behalf of the Rector of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, the General Coordinator of the Northeast Interdisciplinary Center, Dr. Daniel Jáuregui Vázquez gave an inaugural message highlighting the importance of carrying out both the meeting as the contest, since in the two activities the student and teaching community of the UG have the opportunity to innovate and undertake for sustainable development.

The Head of the Headquarters of Social Co-responsibility of the UG, Joanna Camacho López thanked the team of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus for carrying out these initiatives because the two are part of university social responsibility. He indicated that both the meeting and the contest are indispensable tools to deal with climate change and to take care of the life of ecosystems through the exchange of knowledge and the care of the biosphere reserve.

The General Administrative Coordinator of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus and the organizer of the "Ideas in action" Contest, Dr. María Mercedes León Sánchez indicated that the contest has two objectives, that students undertake and that they also seek solutions and generate environmentally friendly products.

It should be noted that the 6th Meeting of Sustainability and Culture of the Sierra Gorda, will last two days, October 30 and 31, in which workshops of urban orchards will be held, there will be bird watching in the context of ecotourism, and a workshop will be given electrical energy through bioclimatic architecture.

There will also be talks on various topics such as experiences of the sustainability of the UG; the problem of the disappearance of bees; and the risk of biodiversity of exotic species, to name a few.
