Celaya, Gto., November 1, 2019.- Mental health research projects presented by students of the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus aroused the interest of the members of the jury who assessed the relevance of both proposals at the State Forum on Health Research, organized by the Institute of Public Health of the State of Guanajuato (ISAPEG).

Diana Laura López Navarro and José María de la Roca presented their research on "Early experiences and their association with the manifestation of psychiatric symptoms in adults with substance symptom disorder" while Andrea Nicole Pacheco Delgado and Yazmín Alejandra Quintero Hernández, participated in the obtaining of supports with research "Efficacy of early stimulation based on traditional games on cognitive, psychomotor, social and nutrition development in children from 3 to 6 years of age".

At the Innovation Park of the Universidad La Salle, in León, the campus researchers presented the posters where they released their research on mental health, achieving widely satisfactory results by obtaining second and third place and be selected to receive additional financial support for the development of the actions of their projects.

At the award ceremony, Health Secretary at Guanajuato Dr. Daniel Díaz Martínez stated that the goal is to support research that generates knowledge that is the basis for decision-making and from which public policies are generated that strengthen sector.

It is about promoting research development with a view to developing an institutional research culture, he externed.

Dr. Herlinda Aguilar Zavala, a Professor of the Bachelor of Clinical Psychology and advisor to both projects, expressed her blessing at the interest that the two projects presented aroused in the community.

She noted the positive impact that research outcomes can have on the treatment and design of mental care strategies and their families.

She stressed that in order to promote and protect mental health, it is necessary to continue investing in the generation of meaningful knowledge for the development of more effective and humane services that enable the mentally ill to enjoy a dignified life and exploitation, in the as far as possible, of its residual capabilities.

Inversion in mental health research shapes a healthier society who tackles stress and conflict as part of daily life and, consequently, enjoy a better quality of life, she added.

Both research protocols will be registered at the State Observatory for Health Research, with which Dr. Herlinda Aguilar will maintain ongoing communication to provide herself with feedback and thereby generate a learning community and with a repository of protocols, clinical cases, guidelines for ethical health research, among others.
