Guanajuato, Gto., November 12, 2019.- Soprano Sindy Gutierrez along with the String quartet Paax K'aay will tour Italy to participate in the first Pollino Festival in the city of Cosenza.

Both the soprano and the members of the string quartet are part of the community of the University of Guanajuato, Sindy Gutiérrez is a graduate of the Master of Arts and the musicians form or have been part of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG).

The members of the quartet will be able to attend the festival thanks to the support of the State Institute of Culture with its program "Talento Guanajuato en Movimiento" that enables the national and international mobility of scenic activities for participation in artistic or cultural events.

The soprano and string quartet rescue pieces from the popular repertoire and transform them into Mexican concert music with a wide range of textures and emotions.

From December 2 to 6 the musicians will perform a series of performances in which they will perform works by Guanajuatense composers such as Juventino Rosas, Joaquín Pardavé, María Grever, José Alfredo Jiménez, to name a few.

Sindy Gutierrez and the Paax K'aay string quartet will perform three concerts within the festival's program, thanks to an invitation from the Accademia delle Arti.

The quartet had been formed for two years and its members were interested in planning of Mexican music to be transported to concert halls.

The members of the group expressed their enthusiasm to be able to perform an international tour in which they will also perform the music of the Guanajuatense composers who have put the state up all over the world. They appreciated the support of the University of Guanajuato and stressed that the project was also supported by the State Government and the Ministry of Culture of the Federal Government.
