For the percentage of Full-Time Professors in the SNI, the UG ranks 2nd among state public universities

Guanajuato, Gto., November 20, 2019.- With a total of 588 academics in the National System of Researchers (SNI), of which 527 are Full-Time Professors (PTC), University of Guanajuato (UG) ranks second nationally among state public universities with the highest percentage of PTC in that System.

Currently in the state there are 1,064 academics in the SNI, and of these 55.3 percent belong to the University of Guanajuato, which includes 588 researchers – full-time and part-time professors-.

These indicators are the result of the effort, work and commitment of the academic staff of the maximum House of State Studies, so a ceremony of recognition of academic merit was held, in which 384 distinctions were delivered. Of these, 215 were from the Teaching Professional Development Program for the Higher Type (PRODEP), 122 from the SNI and 47 from SNI-PRODEP.

At the ceremony, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino highlighted the individual, collective and institutional effort that demands this distinction, so he expressed his appreciation for this achievement.

He noted that high scientific capacity is strengthened to the extent that the student is accompanied in their training and called for redoubled efforts to meet the demands of the current context, such as increasing enrollment without decrement of quality, including equity and inclusion criteria.

For his part, the Director of Research and Postgraduate Support (DAIP), Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil, stressed that the UG is 55 percent of the research capacity in the state, and in complex scenarios, urged his colleagues to continue to carry out their best effort every day.

He also mentioned the importance of having 754 teachers with current recognition of desirable profile PRODEP, which translates into 82.22 percent of its academic plant. That is, 37.14 percentage points above the national average for state public universities.

The Program for Teaching Professional Development for the Higher Type (PRODEP) seeks to professionalize Full-Time Teachers to achieve research-teaching, technological development and innovation capabilities and with responsibility they are articulated and consolidated into academic bodies and thus generate a new academic community capable of transforming their environment.

While the National System of Researchers recognizes the work of researchers dedicated to producing scientific knowledge and technology.
