Celaya, Gto., November 21, 2019.- With a ceramic tibor (recipient) she named "The Colorful Night", Annete Hernández Romero student of the Bachelor of Administration of the University of Guanajuato, obtained the first place in the XXIII State Competition for the award for Artisan Creativity, in the category of pottery and ceramic "Artesano-producer and / or collaborations artisan-designer".

In this unique piece, Annete Hernandez portrayed passages from the Japanese version of the legend "The Rabbit on the Moon", which Asians tell the children to instill in them the spirit of commitment and dedication.

Legend has it that tired and hungry an old pilgrim found himself on the way to a fox, a monkey and a rabbit, to whom he asked for some food; the monkey collected from the trees fruits and fox birds that gave the pilgrim to feed, but the rabbit, getting nothing he collected branches and dried leaves with which he made a campfire and jumped inside offering himself as food for the old pilgrim. The old man, seeing such a sacrifice, revealed to the animals his identity, he was a deity of great power who was testing them. He collected the rabbit's remains and buried them on the moon as a tribute for their solidarity. Now every night of the full moon you can see the figure of the rabbit in the sky.

In the tibor, Annete collects this story and manages to capture it achieving a piece of 50 centimeters of singular beauty. Before being ready for the contest, clay and kaolin were painstakingly molded and baked at 1240oC for more than five hours, then painted by hand and meticulously drew the essential parts of the story, in a process that took three months entirely.

These elements were considered by the judges by granting the first place in this competition organized by the Department of Sustainable Economic Development in coordination with the State Council for the Craft Development. In presenting the award, Mauricio Usabiaga Díaz Barriga, offered the support of the Secretariat he leads to expand the ways of marketing his products.

Annete Hernández is 19 years old, she is originally from Tarandacuao, Guanajuato, studies the third semester of Administration at the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus of the UG. In an interview, she detailed that she has worked with pottery since she was 4 years old, as she comes from a family of potters, where the main craftsman, her father, taught her the trade that she hopes to be able to transmit to the next generations, with the added advantages suddenly be a professional and have knowledge that will empower her to run the family business.

Just as the legend has passed from generation to generation through the narrative that books, teachers and families collect, Annete seeks to transmit this art to future generations. For the time being this winning piece is on display at the City Museum in León.
