Silao, Gto., November 25, 2019.- For consolidating measures to reduce electricity consumption, The University of Guanajuato (UG) won 2 awards and 3 awards from the "2019 Guanajuato State Award for Energy Sustainability " that recognizes the efforts of the public, private and educational institutions in the entity.

First place in the educational institution category, it was for Irapuato High School (ENMSI) and third place for the High School College (CNMS). In addition, the Northeast Interdisciplinary Center (CINUG), the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies in Yuriria (DEM) and the High School College of Guanajuato (CNMSG) received a recognition.

State authorities headed by Dr. Eusebio Vega Pérez, Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education (SICES) presented the awards and recognitions to the holders of the university headquarters, who attended accompanied by the management body from their campuses.

Dr. Jesús Martínez Patiño, Director of the Vida UG Ecosystem, explained that since 2010 the Institution began to design the Institutional Project for Energy Efficiency Savings and Use, which has been responsible for selecting and coordinating the participation of the headquarters eligible for the call, based on the historical monitoring of energy consumption and evidence of actions in the line of efficiency and energy savings.

At the University of Guanajuato, the ideology of sustainability is fostered through specialized educational programs and learning units, from the Direction of Equality and Social Co-responsibility, the Directorate of Infrastructure and Services University Ecosystem, The Ecosystem of Linking, Development and Application of Knowledge, as well as from its technological parks.

In an interview, Dr. Iván Abel Hernández Robles, Executive Director of the Interagency Energy Center (CINERGIA UG) stressed that the house of studies is looking for the implementation of sustainable buildings throughout the university, which brings new challenges for its implementation, in which all the collaborators of this research center are working.

Events such as the State Energy Sustainability Award allow the dissemination and implementation of measures for the efficient use of electricity in an environment of healthy participation and continuous learning of government spaces, large, medium and small schools and research centers.
