León, Gto., November 25, 2019.- In order to generate favorable environmental practices and take care of the ecosystem promoting sustainability. The University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León received the ninth certification of the ecological flag, an acknowledgement granted by the municipal government of León.

This badge is awarded to institutions of basic, upper and higher education with the aim of incentivizing the educational community of León to make changes in habits and ways to build a society that promotes protection and conservation environment, as well as better hygienic-health standards through school environmental management.

Thus, for the UG this certification is the result of nine years of constant work, where the headquarters that make up the Campus León have obtained the maximum level promoted by this program that oversees the General Office of Environmental Management.

This ceremony was attended by municipal public officials, council rules, representatives of educational institutions, promoters of environmental care and was chaired by Mr. Héctor López Santillana, President of the City Council Municipal Council of León.

It should be noted that the venues that make up the Campus León have promoted nine strategic lines of action in order to obtain this recertification: environmental education, saving and efficient use of water, administration and safety, health services and evacuation of liquid waste, management and use of solid waste, hygiene of classrooms and facilities, green areas, energy saving and efficient use and community environmental action.

In the same way, talks, courses, workshops, visits, bird watching, and reforestation campaigns have been given in order to promote activities that seek the care of the environment. All these actions have been directed to the university community with the sole goal of including more people in this noble cause.

It is noteworthy that nine environmental promoters have been named in the Campus León, an action that seeks to include the student community in the strategic lines of "ecological flag".

As a result, students who obtain this designation are intended to promote these practices with their peers in the classroom and to carry out actions both on-site and off-site to promote the efficient and effective use of resources of the environment.

It should be noted that this is not the only certification that the Lion Campus receives in environmental matters. Last week, the Delegation of Good Environmental Practices was received from the Environmental and Territorial Office (PAOT) of the State of Guanajuato, which recognizes the repeated effort made by the university community in the care of natural resources.

María del Rocío Martínez Pacheco, Coordinator of the Administrative Quality and Environment Area, assured that, in order to continue in this line of work, activities are planned for the following year in which any member of the university community. In turn, the Sherry Headquarters is sought to integrate in the certification granted by the (PAOT) in Guanajuato.
