Guanajuato, Gto., November 25, 2019.- "In Mexico there is an average of 7 to 10 femicides a day, so it is important to be aware of the violence that women experience," said Guanajuato University's Bachelor of Arts graduate Nazareth Chaseg, who wrote and directed the theatrical staging "Don't ask me how it was."

This work was carried out at the Teatro Principal, where UG students of the Performing Arts performed with the purpose of raising awareness of violence against women, a problem that is global, the director explained.

However, he emphasized that with this staging they wanted to show the violence that is experienced in the country, reason why the story of a femicide was represented.

Four actors on stage embodied the murder of a woman pierced by her husband, since most of these crimes are carried out in the domestic realm. The work was executed thanks to the work of the actors in a laboratory of body expression, thus with few dialogues they managed to represent an atrocious fact.

"Don't Ask Me How It Was" was exhibited as part of the activities of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is commemorated every November 25.

It should be noted that the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women issued by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 1993 defines violence against women as "any act of violence that has or may have as result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, as well as threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether they occur in public life or in private life."

The graduate of the University of Guanajuato mentioned that with the theatrical exercise they want to show society that the problem of violence against women is complex and is increasing so action plans are needed to eradicate it in everyday environments : from homes, offices, universities, to name a few. And above all he stressed that there must be demanded that there be a trial for the guilty because most cases go unpunished.
