León, Gto., November 26, 2019.- The Poliforum León was the headquarters of the XI Technology Innovation Award 2019 which, as every year, is carried out in order to encourage entrepreneurs and researchers to expose their technological and innovative capabilities.

Fifteen projects were winners - top three places for each category - out of a total of 53 and 216 participants divided into 5 categories.

The evaluation was carried out using the scores obtained on November 20 in the pitch presentation (verbal and/ or specific graphic) and the qualification of the stands that were installed in the Technology Fair.

The event began with the registration of participants, preceded by an inauguration message by the Veronica Orozco Gutiérrez, Director of Development of the Knowledge Economy of the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Higher Education. The Director and evaluators were immediately cut the ribbon to finally take a tour of the stands as a final part of the evaluation.

As part of the event and to exalt Mexican talent in the world, a master conference was held by Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela, the first Mexican astronaut to go to space, who through his talk motivated those present to continue working on his projects underlined the importance of the academic trajectory for the economic and social development of the state and the country.

The closing and award ceremony were led by Dr. Eusebio Vega Peréz, Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education, Lic. Omar Silva Palancares, on behalf of the Municipal President of León, Lic. Héctor López Santillana; Dr. Jesús Martínez Patiño, General Coordinator of the Ecosystem of Linking, Innovation, Development and Application of Knowledge (VIDA UG) on behalf of the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela, and the student winner of the last edition of the 2017 Innovation Award, Miguel Angel Ramos Valdovinos.

In his welcome message, Mr. Omar Silva Palancares extolled the importance of such events, as well as the continuing need to innovate in the context of today's globalization.

He also shared testimony of the evolution of his project the winning student Miguel Angel Ramos Valdovinos.

The award was attended by researchers and students from the University of Guanajuato, such as Dr. Ileana del Rocío Zamora García and Dr. Héctor Plascencia Mora, winners of the third and second place respectively of the category of researchers.

In conclusion, the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of the State of Guanajuato, Dr. Eusebio Vega Pérez congratulated the winners of this year and exhorted the other participants to continue innovating.
