Guanajuato, Gto., November 27, 2019.- Authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG), the state government and 13 cities where the House of Studies has a presence, signed a collaboration agreement to carry out a comprehensive security strategy, with actions focus on the needs of each venue.

In his message, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, pointed out that the House of Studies has the conviction that this problem must be worked with a vision of co-responsibility, so the signing of this agreement corroborates the institutional commitment to a social problem.

He disclosed that the UG has 74 offices in 13 cities of the state, there are approximately 50 thousand members of the university community, and there is a representation of people from 30 countries, which gives an idea of the diversity that exists in the House of Studies.

Therefore, the Convention on the Social Prevention of Violence and Crime aims to design, develop and implement cross-cutting strategies in university polygons, with actions focused on the particularities of each headquarters.

Thus, work will be made to generate conditions of peace for both the university community and the inhabitants of the 13 municipalities participating in the signing of the agreement.

These cities are Guanajuato, Celaya, Irapuato, León, Moroleón, Pénjamo, Salamanca, Salvatierra, San Luis de la Paz, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, Yuriria y Tierra Blanca.

State Secretary of Public Security, Alvaro Cabeza de Vaca Appendini, noted that prior to the signing of this agreement, diagnostics were combined, which will allow "precision shots"; in addition, there is an established programme of specific actions that will be clearly measurable.

The commitments agreed through the agreement allow to serve the UG community, and the people who operate in the university environments.

He clarified that the measures go beyond surveillance, covering items as diverse as infrastructure and roads; this is a comprehensive strategy, he stressed.

In his speech, the Secretary of State Government, Lic. Luis Ernesto Ayala Torres welcomed the initiative of the University of Guanajuato to make this agreement and although he acknowledged that this is a huge challenge, he said that to face it co-responsibility is key.
Therefore, he considered that in this subject the House of Studies can be a reference "because it has great human capital" and for the work that its graduates do.

It was up to the Director of Equality and Social Co-responsibility of the UG, Dr. Arminda Balbuena Cisneros, to offer a welcome message, in which she stated that public safety is one of the main citizen demands, and addressing it requires a comprehensive and as well as the conjunction of efforts from different units, as is done through this convention.

The event met sole-person authorities of the House of Studies, mayors and representatives of the Municipalities involved in the convention and the state government.
