Guanajuato, Gto., September 27, 2015. In a public and extraordinary session, the H. General College Council and in presence of members from the college community, authorities from three government parties and state & federal legislators, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino took oath as General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG) for the period 2015-2019.

In the ceremony held at UG's General Auditorium, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino expressed his recognition to the community he now leads and offered to work assuming that the general rectory is an instance of authority but above all, of service.

He mentioned some of the immediate strategies to take in action which favor growth and diversification of educative programs and announced the beginning of a program for regional equity in which all UG's divisions will provide spaces for students from zones without access to college education, in which the youth will have scholarships; with the commitment that they will return to their communities to work and their social service is destined to solve problems in the communities of origin.

Added that the program to retain talents from the High School College will be followed and the outstanding students will have direct entry into the higher education programs.

Referent to the work conditions for professors and administrative workers in the institution, UG's General Rector announced that the stimulus programs for academics and administrative personnel will be revised to improve their growth opportunities in the institution.

Furthermore, he considered urgent to reconfigure the editorial and link policy, reinforce the cultural activities and prioritize to update the university's normative. 

He trusts in the talent from the college community, discipline, loyalty and commitment from their students, professors and administrative personnel, as well as the support from the state and federal government and society to take on the upcoming great challenges.

In his message, Dr. José Manuel Cabrera Sixto reasserted the conviction that education is capable of transforming people and societies, therefore, his rectorate was based in two principles: a deep social commitment from the University and actions oriented towards the practice of humanism which distinguishes this house of studies.

He expressed his recognition and gratitude to the member of the college community for the opportunity to have lead them and reassured that occupying the general rectory "has been the greatest formative experience" in his life.

in representation of the Public Education Secretary (SEP for its acronym in Spanish), M. Aureliio Nuño Mayer, General Director of Higher Education from SEP, Dr. Salvador Malo Álvarez acknowledged Dr. Cabrera Sixto's management, and pointed that the UG is a strong institution and wished the best to Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino in his quest as General Rector.

 Governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez said that the University of Guanajuato is an expression of greatness in the state, and was confident that under the leadership of Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, UG will enter a new consildation stage, and offer complete support from state government to fulfill the goals in the Insitutional Development Plan. 

At the ceremony, Provost from the H. General College Council, M. Patricia Begné Ruiz Esparza, President from the H. State Congress, Dip. Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo; President from the Supreme Court of Justice, Magistrate Miguel Valadez Reyes and in representation of the Executive General Secretary from the National Association of Higher Education Institutes and Universities (Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Insituticiones de Educación Superior (ANUIES for its acronym in Spanish)), General Director of Legal Matter, M. Yolanda Legorreta Carranza formed the presidium.

Also present were the President of the Board at UG. P.A. Héctor Webb Cruces; President of the H, Patronage from the University of Guanajuato, Eng. Salvador Arturo Salazar Mendoza; Municipal President from Guanajuato, Eng. Luis Fernando Gutiérrez Márquez; as well as special guests, among the ex-rectors from this house of studies and directors from different universities.
