
León, Gto., August 25, 2016.- With the intention to follow up the joint work between the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León and the "Academia Nacional de Medicina de México A.C.," was held the fourth session of the central chapter of this academy with the participation of Dr. Roberto Tapia Conyer, General Director of the Carlos Slim Foundation.
Dr. Tapia participated with the theme "Social Media and Adherence to Treatment" where he addressed the use of social media the possible benefits to incorporate new technologies to the public health ambience, as well as the generation of digital applications that serve as tools for health professionals and for society with preventive means and treatment of diseases.
During his intervention, he mentioned the main needs that the social media user seeks to satisfy and the consequences of using digital devices for long periods, where he highlighted the high indexes of sedentary life, isolation and malnourishment.
So he commented: "the innovations must be designed and implanted with the vision of being a public politic and influence in the behavior of the person to have a healthy lifestyle, to take preventive actions, detection and address the disease."
The Director of Carlos Slim Foundation presented the project titles Health Unit 2.0, with which they seek to positively impact in the health of the social media and internet users using the benefits of technology, in a comprehensive manner, taking into account their lifestyle, sex, health condition and risk.
Lastly, Dr. Luxana Reynaga Ornelas, Academic Secretary of Campus León, handed and award to Dr. Roberto Tapia and manifested the desire to tighten collaboration liaisons to make joint projects, and at the same time, he thanked his participation in the session of the University of Guanajuato and the "Academia Nacional de Medicina de México A.C." from which Campus León is the venue.
