Guanajuato, Gto., August 24, 2016. With the purpose to open spaces for reflection that contribute to influence in a better life quality for the vulnerable population, at the University of Guanajuato (UG) was held the Forum of "Human Rights of the Elders."

The event had the presence of the President of the National Commission of Human Rights (CNDH), Lic. Luis Raúl González Pérez, who held that it is necessary to pass from assistant view "focused in correcting lack of economy and services, to a national politic focused on human rights," and added that it is necessary to create a culture of dignified aging.

In the forum, it will be debated the mechanisms that allow to strengthen the safety net of the elder, both institutional and the family, to influence in generating public politics that favor the development of a group –every time larger—of the population.

On the matter, the State Governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, sustained that it is necessary to sensitize and make society aware, because beyond the legal reforms, the protection of the elder must be a matter of conviction, which requires a joint work, such as the one done in this forum.

In his intervention, the State Deputy of ISSSTE, Lic. Cándido Pérez Verduzco, pointed that the best place to work in the subject of human rights is the "university of the people of Guanajuato," hence, he thanked the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the support to carry on the even at the House of Studies.

While speaking, the Procurator of Human Rights of the State of Guanajuato (PDHEG), Lic. Gustavo Rodríguez Junquera, said that the Forum "Human Rights of the Elder," seeks to progress in the construction of a more just society, that contributes to the development of all people, as well as claiming the value of years and experience.

Representing the General Director of ISSSTE, the Prosecretaría de la Junta Directiva y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado, Lic. María Guadalupe Chacón Monárrez, trusted that the reflection that is done in the forum will give place for action, since he acknowledged there still are numerous challenges to protect the human rights of the elder.

In the organization of the event participated, besides the CNDH, PHDEG, ISSSTE and the University of Guanajuato, organisms such as the Instituto Nacional de las Personas Adultas Mayores (INAPAM) and the Secretaria de Desarrollo Social (SEDESOL).

It was the turn to welcome the attendants to the municipal president of Guanajuato, Lic. Edgar Castro Cerrillo, and attended also, among other functionaries, the President of the Supreme Court of the State (STJE), Magister Miguel Valadez Reyes; the President of the State's Congress, Congressman Juan Gabriel Villafaña Covarrubias; SEDESOL's deputy in Guanajuato, Lic. Claudia Navarrete Aldaco; Secretaría de Gobernación's deputy, Lic., Javier Aguirre Vizzuett and, from CNDH, the First General Visitor, Lic. Miguel Eslava Pérez, and the Executive Secretary, Héctor Dávalos Martínez.
