
León, Gto., August 31, 2016.- The remarkable psychologist Harlene Anderson, founder of the Houston Galveston Institute and Taos Institute visited Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG) to give the conference "The conversation and dialogue in psychotherapy" where she highlighted the advantages of using language as one of the main tools to build a link with the patient, besides of creating bonds with other people through dialogue and conversation.
As central elements of the collaborative work in therapy, Dr. Harlene proposes using language in any of its kinds to ease communication, since it is a way to be receptive to the multiple languages that can be issued during the same, in addition of broadening the possibilities of interaction and access the resources of the patient to better use them and provide alternative solutions.
She emphasized that through dialogue, equality relations are created and it is known that the history of the patient, which eases the decision making altogether so the patient can have a better life quality.
Equally, she commented that the communication is an element present in the social constructions that give personality to the individuals parting from the distinct assigned meanings to words and they are reflected in all social levels, hence, she commented that "we have to be conversational partners and learn to build a relationship."
Lastly, she mentioned that knowledge is built together with the rest through dialogue and the social interaction that gives origin to the sense of one-self and the emotions.
Harlene Anderson is a psychologist, therapist and teacher. She is one of the pioneers and main thinkers of the postmodern and collaborative movement in therapy, consulting and education.
