Guanajuato, Gto., August 30, 2016.- The student Monicamiguel Muñoz Olmedo, from the degree in Law of the University of Guanajuato (UG) won a silver medal in the modality of Sport Sambo in an international level.

The Pan American Championship of this discipline was made in Asunción, Paraguay, scenario where Muñoz Olmedo sustained a final match against the competitor from Peru, with a result of 9 to 6 on favor of the opponent.

As every finalist, Monicamiguel is satisfied with her achievement and above all, regarding technique and strategy there were no errors, "this is a rematch, I just need to return and prepare for the Sambo World Competition, which will be held in Bulgaria on November 9 to 16," she emphasized.

In a phone interview, UG's athlete expressed that her final goal was accomplished by climbing the podium of this competition, thanks to the support given by the University, coaches: Physical trainer Julio Espinosa and nutritionist Hugo Espinosa, friends and family.

She recognized that obtaining this silver medal is a reward to the work done for months, besides she talked that "going out of Guanajuato two months ago to win a national championships and two months later leave for an international championship is motive of pride."

"It is the dream of every athlete, to seek great results in renowned competitions. I know I represented Mexico but my first flag the University of Guanajuato, they are who are aware of how the training is doing and every day are forming us academically and sportively."

Finally, she reiterates her message to the student community "he who wants, can; to practice any discipline they like since the University is engaged with its athletes."

The Championship had the participation of athletes from 12 countries, Monicamiguel Muñoz had to matches before reaching the final, the first against Venezuela, the semifinal she faced the competitor from Argentina who she beat by half time by technical superiority.
