Yuriria, Gto., September 1, 2016. With the objective to propitiate the development of projects relevant for the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the southeastern cities of the state, the Council of Social Participation of the Southeast, Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, was created by majors and authorities from the cities of Yuriria, Uriangato, Moroleón and Santiago Maravatío; as well as academics and representatives of the social sector.

While handing the award, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, held that it is important for the institutions the meddling, participation and commitment of the local governments, hence, he thanked the interest for being part of the consultant organism.

He highlighted that working with society is part of the mission and essence of the House of Studies, at the same time he reminded the growth of UG that has been possible for the support of the government and society.

The General Rector Explained that the multi-campus model the University adopted in 2009 allows to extend in a better way the needs of each region, and specifically mentioned that this campus has a council of social participation in Irapuato, another in Salamanca, and for negotiations from Dr. Ernesto Camarena Aguilar, was created the one in Yuriria.

With this advice, we seek to join efforts and visualize opportunity areas for the region, as well as analyzing the aperture of new educational programs and generate equity schemes for the youth that aspire to enter the University.

During the ceremony, the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Alfredo Camarena Aguilar said that for UG it is a priority to link with society and generate an inclusive regional project.

Afterwards, began the 1st Ordinary Reunion of the Consultant Council of Social Participation of the Southeast, where Dr. Salvador García Barrón, Coordinator of Extension and Liaison, presented a bank of projects from the Campus Irapuato-Salamanca. There was also exposed a proposal of projects from part of the municipal presidents of Yuriria, Uriangato, Moroleón and Santiago Maravatío and followed up to the Study of Relevance to Educational Programs for the venue Yuriria.
