Guanajuato, Gto., September 2, 2016. The University of Guanajuato (UG) is venue of the 6th Forum of Social Service and 1st Forum of Professional Practice of the West Center region (RCO) of the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutes (ANUIES), event that emphasized the importance of integrating the students to projects that impact their environment.

At the ceremony there was an award to recognize the work of the M.A. María Luisa Vera Hernández, who dedicated a large part of her professional career to social service at the University of Guanajuato.

Representing the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Academic Secretary of UG, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez expressed his gratitude to M.A. Vera Hernández, for her dedication, work and commitment to give to social service the place it deserves in the student's formation.

He added that in the House of Studies the social service is fundamental to comprehensively form the students and encourage the sense of social responsibility that distinguishes the institution.

In the same sense, when giving the opening message, the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, said that for UG it is indispensable to make social impact projects that tighten bonds between the University and society.

While offering a speech representing the Rector of the University of Guadalajara and President of the Western Central Region of ANUIES, M.A. Itzcóatl Tonatiuh Bravo Padilla, the Technical Secretary of RCO, M.A. Bertha Yolanda Quintero Maciel, held that social service allows to form professionals who are solidary with their environment and at the same time retribution to society for the support to public institutions.

Under the motto "Undertake and practice transforms lves" the 6th Forum of Social Service and 1st Forum of Professional Practices, includes among its activities, conferences, panels and workshops such as "El Emprendimiento Social como Elemento de Transformación Personal", "El Potencial Transformador de los Jóvenes", "Liderazgo Social", "Prácticas Profesionales y Plan de Vida" y "Trabajo en Equipo".
