
Salamanca, Gto., September 2, 2016.- With the screening of the documentary "The secret of trees," the Division of Engineering of the University of Guanajuato was premiered as a remote venue of the International Biennial of Scientific Cinema "BICC-Ronda 2016."
In our country, only three institutions were approved as a remote venue of the festival that is born in Ronda, Spain; an institute at Monterrey, a school in Mexico City and the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca; informed Dr. Cristina Margarita Gómez Sarabia, professor-researcher of the Department of Art and Business, and tireless promoter of events that link art and science.
The documentary "The secret of trees" was screened for the university community, produced by researchers of the University of Zaragoza (Spain), who estudy the evolution of weather in Aragon parting from different especies of the Natural Park Moncayo, finding that the growth of the trees is related with the evolution of temperature and precipitations, which turns the trees in genuine witnesses of the climate.
The festival of Scientific Cinema of Science and Technology in Spain and Europe since 1977, is organized by the Spanish Association of Scientific Cinema and Images (ASECIC), that invites all member institutions of the University Corporation to the Development of Internet A.C. (CUDI) to participate as remote venues under an innovative format of Multi-Venue Festival in Europe and Latin America.
Under this modality, UG and the rest remote venues, will be able to project awarded or finalist audiovisual works of the BICC Ronda or guest festivals, which in this XVIII edition, had the registry of 200 documentaries competing, which are selected by 25 experts in the jury.
The Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of UG, Dr. Ernesto Camarena Aguilar inaugurated the scientific cinema show, in company of the Director of Education, Culture and Sport of the city of Salamanca, Lic. Esteban Martínez Hernández; of the Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Roberto Rojas Laguna and the event's promoter, Dr. Cristina Margarita Gómez Sarabia.
