Guanajuato, Gto., September 5, 2016.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) reaffirms its commitment with the comprehensive development of the young in the opening ceremony of the III Sub 23 Pan American Cup of Male Volleyball 2016.

The Cup will develop from September 5 to 10 and along 5 days the following countries will compete: Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago, Santa Lucia; Dominican Republic, Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina.

Representing the General Rector of UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Director of Student Development, M.A. José Osvaldo Chavez Rodriguez, attended the opening act of such cup, which was held in the auditorium "The Hive" at the Yerbabuena.

During the event, the Captain of the Mexican volleyball team, Cristian Aranda, made the sports oath in name of all of the players; the International Mexican Volleyball referee, José Roberto Luna Amezcua, declared, in name of the judges, the impartiality when qualifying.

Representing the governor of Guanajuato, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, the Secretary of Education of the State of Guanajuato, Eng. Eusebio Vega Pérez was in charge of making the opening declaration in this international act, where he highlighted the importance of the sport in the development of the young.

It is important to mention that it is the first time this event is held in the city of Guanajuato, and UG collaborates, together with the Commission of Sports of the state (CODE), with the finality to approach culture of sports to college students.

The "Estudiantina" of the University of Guanajuato entertained the opening act with diverse typical pieces of the same, among we could find: "Tierra de mis Amores" and "Caminos de Guanajuato."

Were present: the President of the Committee of Control of this Cup, Prof. César Osuna Brambila; the President of the Mexican Federation of Volleyball, Lic, Jesús Perales Navarro; the Regent of the H. City Hall of Guanajuato, CPA. Julio Ortíz Vázquez; the Director of Sport from CODE, Lic. Romualdo Hernández Chávez; the President of the Association of Volleyball in Guanajuato, Arch. Alfredo Ramírez Flores.
