Guanajuato, Gto., September 9, 2016.- Students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) will present in the city of Pereira, Colombia "The Faith of the Pigs" play of the Mexican dramaturge, Hugo Abraham Wirth.
The set presents the problem of people trafficking, drug dealing and violence in general, and through the same dialogue generates different connections with the audience, parting from their context.
"Fundamental," is how the student from the degree in Scenic Arts, Sandra Mireya Gúzman Barrón, defines the participation of UG in this theater project, at the same she thanks two people, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, for his current development, as well as the unconditional support from the architect Juan Martín Aguilera Morales, Director of the Division of Architecture, Art & Design.
The project "The Faith of the Pigs" has its origins on last year's May, as part of "Espiral", and is born from a class called "Set on stage," where the students must set a theater play.
It was premiered in the Espiral Festival 2015, with the support of Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino as Rector of Campus Guanajuato, which allowed them to make a good production and presentations outside the city.
The project –created in the classrooms—is encouraged by the company "Theater of the dreams," a young collective placed in the national and international scene led by UG's professor, Israel Araujo, who also leads this play.
From this theater relation between students and the company "Theater of the dreams" is why they were invited by the Cultural Corporation of Colombia "Marca pasos Teatro" to make a series of presentations in the city of Pereira, where they will be in an artistic tour for 2 weeks.
It is worth to mention, that such cultural corporation seeks to take theater to zones where it is complicated to take cultural events, especially for the social-economic matter.
In addition, Guzmán Barrón commented that were accepted in the official selection of the next International Cervantino Festival, hence, these presentations in Colombia will be a great preamble to present the play on October 12 at 18:00hrs at Theater Cervantes.
She expressed to the student community that the University provides great opportunities for people who seek to develop in the artistic ambience, specifically in acting, since it has a wide offer of workshops and the degree in Scenic Arts.
The young college students expressed to be excited to take a UG project to other countries, which opens the possibility to grow more. "I started in this theater company as an assistant director, then I got a role inside the play. Currently, I'm an actress and producer, all these evolution has been thanks to my partners," pointed out in an interview.
