
Guanajuato, Gto. September 16, 2016.- The Choir of the University of Guanajuato (UG) will participate in the second edition of the "Alfaguara Cycle of Ancient Music" where melodies from the Renaissance are interpreted.
UG's Choir's Director, M.A. José Francisco Martínez Rodríguez in an interview informed that the Choir is the only group of the University that will participate in this event, and his presentation will be on September 20th 2016 at 19:00 at the Teatro Principal.
He added that M.A. Armando López Valdivia, who has a bit more than a 40-year career with the group "Past times," is the curator of this cycle, he remarked that the has been a promoter of this genre professionally, assuring that with this platform they increase the reaches of this genre.
For M.A. Martínez, this participation is a challenge, since, having the opportunity to work with M.A. Armando López as a member of the group Past times for two years, knows the professionalism required for this participation.
The preparation of this musical event has multiple rehearsals by sections, ensemble work and the enrichment in the interpretative part, since for M.A. Francisco Martínez a grown work for this kind of presentations requires a lot of effort and quality.
He affirmed that the Choir doesn't specializes only in ancient music, since it handles several genres during the year to maintain the artistic variety current, which increases the effort and work required to maintain an excellent level.
UG's Choir will present with a selection of pieces from the song archove of the Palace of Spanish Music of the Renaissance; with an essentially vocal work and some pieces with the clavicorn, a valid and original proposal assured M.A. Martínez.
"We are the only group from UG that participates in this festival, which demands to make an excellent role and worthily represent the institution" said M.A. Francisco Martínez, who affirmed that UG has supported the Choir to transform into a group that in the last three years has reached better projection levels.
The University of Guanajuato supports culture, through the coordination and directions such as the Coordination of Artistic Groups of the Direction of Cultural Extension, and a clear proof is the participation of UG Choir in the International Festival Cervantino for the third year in a row.
