León, Gto., September 15, 2016. The University of Guanajuato (UG), Campus Leon and the Academic Body of Interdisciplinary Studies on Culture held the IV University Colloquium "Let's talk about Cultural Heritage", that in this edition addressed the topic of "The other heritages," meaning spaces, activities, or human practices that can be considered also a cultural heritage, besides the ones already known.
Cultural heritage is one of the most important topics in the national ambiance of our days, because Mexico is the sixth country with a large number of sites within the list of cultural heritage from UNESCO, and the first in America. Likewise, the cultural tourism, linked to the cultural heritage, leaves in our country a considerable and crescent economic impact, hence, this economic activity is part of the National Program of Infrastructure 2013-2018 of the Federal Government.
Four distinguished scholars were invited to the Colloquium, which is organized by the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities: Yael Bitrán Goren, Director of the National Research Center, Documenting and Musical Information (CENIDIM) of the National Institute of Bellas Artes; who presented the Master conference "The musical-documentary heritage and the role of CENIDIM." In the talk, he exposed a general panorama on the activities done to preserve the national heritage of our country and its pertinence as a historical document.
Also participated: Dr. Eduardo Mijangos Díaz, Director of the Institute of Historical Research from the Universidad Michoacana; Dr. Fernando Solana Olivares, writer and essayist in the national edition of the newspaper "Milenio;" and Dr. Oliver Kozlarek, Doctor in Philosophy. Likewise, there was a conversation on the topic of the "Other heritages" whose responsible was M.A. Carlota Meneses, Dr. José de Jesús Cordero, Dr. Alejandro Mercado and Dr. Morelos Torres, members of the Academic Body of Interdisciplinary Studies on Culture, who also presented the book "The Culture of heritage." Also, Lic. Gerardo Argueta, official chronicler of the city of Acámbaro, Guanajuato, presented his book "La cultura Chupícuaro."
