Guanajuato, Gto., September 15, 2016.- With the participation of outstanding dramaturges, who will give conferences and workshops in different spaces of the University of Guanajuato (UG), from September 19 to October 1st it will be held the First Festival of Theatre and Regional Encounter of Dramatic Text 2016.

In a press conference, the Director of Cultural Extension from UG, Dr. Sara Julsrud López, said that it is an initiative that rises from the area of theater of the Direction of Cultural Extension together with the Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD), and with these transversal action they seek to have an impact on the students.

DAAD's Director, M.A. Juan Martín Aguilera Morales, highlighted that one of the means of the degree in Scenic Arts is for the students to participate in this kind of activities and this festival is a sample that when you join efforts, you obtain successful results.

As part of the Regional Encounter of Dramatic Text, there will be the workshop of Hyper-Textual Dramaturgy, in charge of Dr. Enrique Mijares, renowned dramaturge, who has received –among other distinctions—the Prize Emilio Carballido, the Prize Tirso de Molina and the Medal Xavier Villaurrutía to theater career of the National Council for Culture and Arts.

In the same way, there will be the Dramaturgy workshop with Licona (theory and practice course), in charge of the M.A. Alejandro Licona, a prolific writer and author of more than 50 theater pieces, and the "Workshop of the useful theater, Theater with social sense" by Humberto Robles.

The coordinator of Groups and Artistic workshops, Lic. Guadalupe García Chávez, said that in this initiative participate the groups from UG: University Theatre, Acting Workshop, Alter-Theater, Batracio and Children Theater Workshop; as well as external groups such as the group of the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla.

 

The encounter will have the premiere of the play "The mayor of Zalamea" in charge of the University Theatre. Likewise, it will be presented "The bunny girl," a play from students of Scenic Arts of the University of Guanajuato.

The First Festival of Theater will also be the framework of the workshop of Acting Re-writing: text, image, emotion; whose responsible is Alfredo Vargas; as well as the conferences "For disobeying my parents" and "The theater fiction as a transforming element."

The event's programme includes diverse theater presentations, among them "Geishas Studio for a crime," of Linterna Theater; "Love doesn't hurt," of the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP); and "Isabel watching rain in Macondo," of the theater group Asterión – Ariadna Aragón.
