
Guanajuato, Gto., September 19, 2016.- With the objective to take children closer to diverse areas of knowledge to widen their perspective and reach in life, the second stage of the UG Mentors program was inaugurated, an initiative of students at the University of Guanajuato (UG).
During this stage, they will apply an instrument to around 100 children of fourth, fifth and sixth grades from different public schools, which will allow to know their skills and aptitudes to make an early detection of talent during childhood.
During the opening ceremony, Karla Yadira Romero Sandoval, one f the responsible of the project, thanked all the person who collaborated with UG Mentors, especially the children who enthusiast and willing to participate and learn.
Janet Mata, who has participated as a mentor, chose to be part of this initiative for the interest to encourage the comprehensive development of the children. She pointed out that these activities have allowed a personal growth, in addition of being a way to back the knowledge and awake curiosity in childhood.
Victor Hernández Mata, shared that it is the third edition where he participates and defines it as a program that combines fun & learning. He thanked UG students and other universities for thinking for the children and making these activities.
It is important to mention, that more than 15 people support the development and organization of the event, in addition participate approximately 50 young mentors of diverse profiles that will coexist and share a space with the children to encourage new knowledge and experiences.
In the project participate students from the degrees in Economy, Chemistry, Experimental Biology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Plastic Arts, Law, International Trade of Campus Guanajuato from UG; as well as young from Psychology of Campus León.
The activities will be made with children from the following schools: "Maestro Justo Sierra", "Luis González Obregón", "Moisés Sáenz", "Ignacio Allende", "Instituto Lasalle", "Juan B. Diosdado" & "Elisa Baz de Armida".
In this edition, Fernanda Camarena from Red Nose, an association dedicated to laugh-therapy, accompanied the participants during the inauguration, and summoned to make a dynamic and fun activity to promote coexistence.
