Guanajuato, Gto., a 20 de septiembre de 2016. With a series of academic activities and friendly alternative presentations with the natural ambiance, it will be held the University Environmental Fair, which will occur at the Division of Engineering (DI) of Campus Guanajuato.
The event is part of the actions of the Program of Environmental Handling and Sustainability of the University of Guanajuato (UG), whose responsible is Lic. Dante Acal Sánchez, who referred the fair as an encounter of proposals, ideas and activities that influence in the formation of the students, so these can become agents of change in society.
At the opening ceremony was present UG's Academic Secretary, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez, who –representing the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino—sustained that the institution seeks to promote a responsible behavior among the members of the university community.
Likewise, UG has the commitment to make the knowledge accessible to society and encourage a proactive and innovative attitude to solve the problems of the environment.
With this purpose, within the fair they teach the workshops "Artistic recycling for elementary students;" "Recycled paper workshop," "Practical measures for the efficient use of electric energy and the reduction of polluting emissions," among others.
Among the academic activities, stand out the talks "Recycling of electronics," "Potential of the bio-sustainable refineries," "The environmental management in the strategic administration of modern mining," "Biodiversity in the state of Guanajuato", "Bioremediation of polluted sites," "Homemade rain water caption systems," and "Comprehensive management of residues," opening conference given by the Director of the Institute of Ecology of the State of Guanajuato (IEEG), Dr. Juan Ángel Mejía Gómez.
The Environmental Fair, organized in coordination by the Division of Engineering from UG, is a space where they share projects and knowledge in the environmental subject, friendly alternatives, and allows creating a synergy which will benefit everyone, as pointed out by the regent Carlos Enrique Ortíz Montaño.
In his intervention, DI's Director, Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, reminded that the academic program of Environmental Engineering goes back 18 years, and for the House of Studies is a moral obligation to have an exemplary handling in taking care of the environment.
He emphasized that the University of Guanajuato has diverse recycling programs, reuse and reduction of resources, and has payed special interest in the promotion of an environmental culture. Hence, they consider including the public in the activities.
