
Tlaxcala, Tlax., September 21, 2016.- "We must always propose and defend that the University is one of the best invention of mankind, and its autonomy is one of the best conquests" is how the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino during the beginning of activities of the 40th Anniversary of the Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala (UAT).
During the ceremony, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino expressed his congratulation, in name of the university community, for the commemoration of UAT's 40 years.
He expressed, that speaking about university autonomy implies a cosial pact, where the State deposits its trust on the university so it can execute the heritage, self-govern, execute freedom of speech, research and divulge art and culture.
He added to who is part of the autonomous university communities have great challenges, such as breaking paradigms regarding education, as well as to plant new environments where the main character of learning is the student and his comprehensive formation, so he can learn to leant for life.
He said that another great challenge is to set the technical paths of knowledge, create trust with society, with values and ethic in the university doing, work in the continuous improvement and always be aware of transparency, as well as being promoters and safeguard the human rights to encourage a culture of peace, for Mexico and the world.
On his behalf, UAT's Rector, M.A. Rubén Reyes Córdoba, started the 40th anniversary activities, and indicated that college students have contributed through these years the transformation of the state through the committed, ethic and permanent work, having as a frame the autonomy as an earned right.
"The autonomy, executed responsibly, has been a determining factor that has allowed us to achieve the educational, scientific, technological and cultural progress of our state, continuously growing despite the cut on budgets we have been target of," affirmed M.A. Reyes Córdoba.
Likewise, he referred that they will continue fulfilling the mission to form free human beings, with full awareness of the Human Rights: "the harmony that is lived in our institution has a founding the conciliation and permanent dialogue, with a future vision that will continue constructing strategic alliances that allow us to consolidate our objectives," he finalized.
During this Magnus ceremony, M.A. Rubén Córdoba was accompanied by the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH), Dr. Carlos Eugenio Ruiz Hernández; the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), Dr. Gustavo Rodolfo Cruz Chávez; representing the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH), M.A. Humberto Augusto Veras Gody, Dr. José Luis Antón de la Concha.
Also present were the President of the Consortium of Mexican Universities (CUMex); the Coordinator of the University Program of Human Rights of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Dr. Luis de la Barreda Solórzano; ex-Rectors from UAT; director's structure from UAT; and professors, students and administrative personnel from UAT.
