
Guanajuato, Gto., September 22, 2016.- With a project oriented to identify if the residue of modified materials through Nano technological processes ditched in the environment have an impact on plants, above all the edible plants, and if these changes or modifications have a negative effect in the human being, Francisco Ituriel Arias García, became one of the winners in the 4th Encounter of Young Researchers.
Ituriel Arias, recently graduated from the degree in Sustainable Chemical Engineering, is advised by Dr. Guadalupe de la Rosa, with who he works in his thesis "Phytotoxicity of metallic nanoparticles in vegetables species of food and commercial interest in the region Bajio."
This project gave him the first place in the area of environment in the 4 Encounter of Young Researchers, who was summoned by the University of Guanajuato (UG) through the Direction of Support for Research and Postgraduate (DAIP), with the collaboration of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), event that concluded with awarding the winning projects.
For two days, a jury formed by UG's scholars belonging to the National System of Researchers, selected according the summoned research areas (engineering, biology, exact sciences, environment, health sciences, economic-administrative sciences, social sciences and humanities, and technology), listened and analyzed the projects and files from the young participants, from diverse higher education institutions in the state.
Each one of the almost two hundred presented works in the two journeys were valued between four and eight evaluators, who chose the first three places of every research area.
The winning students of the first and second places will have the opportunity to represent the state of Guanajuato next October in the III Interinstitutional Congress of Young Researchers which will be held in the city of Guanajuato.
M.C. Gloria Eugena Magaña Cota, Chief of the Department of Communication and Scientific Divulgation of the University of Guanajuato, was in charge of closing the Encounter. In her message she affirmed that if Guanajuato has been gradually increasing the number of participants in these encounters, the level is still below other states in the country, so there is a lot left to do to encourage scientific research. In addition, she said that being Guanajuato the venue for the National Encounter, there is a great responsibility to prove a good level, hence, she invited all the participants to improve their exposition parting from the observations and questions asked by the participants and evaluators.
