
Guanajuato, Gto., September 22, 2016. "Create or die." Is the title of the work of Andrés Oppenheimer and phrase that branded the talk of the Head of the Regional Office of the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI), Lic. Alejandro Raúl Salas Domínguez, in an encounter given at the University of Guanajuato.
In a presentation on the importance of intellectual property in the contemporary world, the speaker talked about the work at IMPI, organism he leads, in charge of managing the system of industrial property in our country.
According the Head of the Regional Office Bajio, today is essential for who competes in the market, art or science to patent their products, since it is the legal acknowledgement of their works and helps assure the ownership of their creations.
The patent, assured Salas Domínguez, is equal to the birth certificate of people, as it proves the originality of the works in a world that every day similar products are born.
He pointed out that with this tool the creator has, in addition, the possibility to protect himself against the inappropriate use of his work and guarantee the economic benefits it generates.
ON the other hand, he highlighted that Mexico is in the 57th place in the matter of Innovation of Patents, this is, a very low place that proves an underachievement of the own products.
In some sense, he assured, the patents have a fundamental weight as the capital itself, since through them, you can generate encouragement and a place in the national and international market.
Hence, the importance of betting on the patents, because it is betting on the technological, scientific and intellectual progress of a country.
