Guanajuato, Gto., September 22, 2016.- With the objective to renew every season, the Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) will please the capital with Russian and Argentinian rhythms from the composers Dmitri Shostakovich (1906 – 1975) and Julio César Pardo (1948), as well as a piece from the legendary Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770 – 1827).

OSUG will present the plays Polka and Tango of the Soviet musician, as well as the piece Great Tango, of Julio César Pardo. Equally, the public will enjoy the set on stage of the Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92, of the German composer.

In Polka and Tango from the suite of the ballet The Bolt, Op. 27a of 1931, OSUG will present the plays "The Bureaucrat", of strong ironic and colorful boost, manifested here in the glissandi of the trombone and in the eternal use of the registries. Likewise, Kozelkov dances with friends, a piece articulated by juxtaposing in diverse sections, each one represents a different friend.

Great Tango is one of the most renowned works of Julio César Pardo. It is a piece for fagot and small orchestra, which was written for the Argentinian fagot player Andre Merenzon (1963), who premiered the soloist part in the Madeleine Church in Paris. Such play is based on the rhythms and melodic spins of tango and milonga.

OSUG will have the honor to present these pieces from the hands of two special gusts, Joseph Young, who will please us with his direction and Wendy Holdaway, the fagot player who will paint the Teatro Principal. The American Joseph Young, renowned as "one of the most gifted conductors of his generation," is currently Assisting Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and has experience that has led him to lead ensembles such as Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and the League of American Orchestras.

Joseph Young will be accompanied by the also American Wendy Holdaway, who has worked in the Boston Opera and Houston Pops in Texas. Living in Mexico since 1982, the fagot player has played in the Orchestra of Bellas Artes and the Symphonic of the State of Mexico. Today, she is the main fagot player in the National Symphony of Mexico.

The appointment will be this Friday September 23rd at 20:30hrs at Teatro Principal of the city of Guanajuato.
