León, Guanajuato September 23, 2016. With the purpose to highlight the sense of identity and pertinence of the specialty in Urology from Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG), there was a presentation of the general panorama of the service in Urology in the Medical Unit of High Specialty (UMAE) No. 1 Bajio, of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), as well as a semblance on the origins of the service and the urologists that have branded the great quality and vanguard toward the patients.

It is worth mentioning that the specialty in Urology of the University of Guanajuato, is competing in the National Summon of Quality Postgraduate Census form the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT). Lasts four years with an annual plan of learning units during the period March – February, it also includes rotations in other national and foreign hospital venues.

Dr. Carlos Rios Melgarejo, Head professor of Urology, made the presentation of a mural dedicated to the service of Urology located in the room #4 assigned by UMAE #1 Bajio.

Such work was donated to the service by medics ascribed to the Urology Service, is an oleum on linen of approximately 5x3m, made by the artist Christopher Ulises García Ruiz, who is from Celaya. This work represents a symbol of identity and belonging of Urology through an artistic expression.

This specialty remarks the presence of Dr. Guadalupe Chávez Torres as a resident medic of the third year, the only woman in the educational program, highlighting her career as researcher and obtaining the second place in the poster on "Terapia adyuvante" within the XXVII Congress of the National Association of Urologists graduated from the Medical Center "La Raza", on her experience obtained in the hospital.

During the ceremony, it was highlighted that the service of Urology at UMAE has more than 20 years and it was in 1989 when there was a renal transplant in those facilities.
