Guanajuato, Gto., September 23, 2016.- This Friday's morning was held at Guanajuato city the inauguration of the First Congress of the Consultant Council of Sciences, in which will be discussed the scientific and development and technological innovation of the state, as well as new proposals.
The Consultant Council of Sciences (CCC) of the Republic's Presidency is the first scientific advisor organ of the highest level which offers an opinion and independent recommendations on the national planning of policies and scientific and technological priorities of Mexico in the federal level.
Therefore, the First Congress of the CCC has the finality that their members exchange ideas and proposals on scientific policy of the country, they will argue on the advising role of the Council and present specific projects in the different areas of science, with the purpose to lead the results for the creation of mechanisms of scientific advisory for the Republic's Government.
In his presentation, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino highlighted the important labor and contribution of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) to Mexico and the University of Guanajuato, referring to scholarships and study plan schemes.
In this manner, he assured that the governments should invest in Science, Technology and Innovation, since they are the pillars of a social project. Hence, he invited all the participants at the debate, to contrast ideas, to remove barriers in all knowledge areas, to encourage human society.
On his part, Dr. Arturo Lara López, Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of the State, remarked he importance of having an event of this magnitude to the city of Guanajuato. He acknowledged the transcendental role of the members of the council who have contributed not only in the academic research but in the encouragement of the scientific and technological capacity of the entity.
He pointed out that today they distinguish four main areas of technological work of the state of Guanajuato, which, at the same time, are the pillars of the economy: automotive, leather, shoe, leather goods and fashion; medicine and medical services; and agricultural industry.
Nevertheless, he said, "this is a photo of the present, we must have a future vision. Hence, these areas must be cultivated in transversal areas, emergent technologies and other manifestations that area already present in this revolution of knowledge we are in."
The Congress will be divided in two work journeys during September 23 and 24, during which, the members of the Consultant Council will participate in the Master conferences and work tables. Likewise, there will be an homage for Dr. Guillermo Soberón Acevedo, first coordinator of the council and renowned politician, chemist and Mexican scholar.
In an interview, the General Coordinator of the CCC, Dr. Arturo Menchaca Rocha pointed out that, during the first interventions, the attendants will listen firsthand the experiences of who has served as advisors of the last two president of the Mexican republic.
These discussions will be in charge of the senator and ex-rector of UG, M.A. Juan Carlos Romero Hicks, who will share his work with the ex-national president, Lic. Felipe Calderón Hinojosa and with Dr. Enrique Cabrero Mendoza, who is currently advisor of Mexico's President, Lic. Enrique Peña Nieto.
Afterwards, there will be a session parting from selected topics related with high technology, the role of a woman in science and innovation and how to encourage interest in the private initiative to invest in these areas.
Finally, for Saturday 24, they elaborate the rapporteur of each one of the tables and will present the conclusions and agreements to work in topics of science.
The presidium was composed by the General Director of CONACYT, Dr. Enrique Cabrero Mendoza; the Coordinator of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Presidency, Dr. Elias Micha Zaga.
Also in the presidium were the Secretary of the Commission of Science and Technology of the Republic's Senate, Senator Juan Carlos Romero Hicks; the General Coordinator of the Scientific and Technological Consultant Forum, Dr. José Franco López; the General Director of the Center of Research in Mathematics, Dr. José Antonio de la Peña; and the Executive Secretary of the Consultant Council of Sciences, M.A. Lorena Macías Navarro.
